"Life is too short to be sad at work." - Jacques Séguéla
A test case
The sad fact: At 42, Anne-Marie has grown an impressive career as a sales representative in the healthcare industry. Given her in-depth knowledge of the field, she sees the writing on the wall: sales are down, cost control measures are up, which in turn pollute the work environment. The collaborative work culture she thrives on is over as everybody feels a sword of Damocles hanging over their heads.
The outlook: While meeting with her career coach, she realises she could target employers outside her field who would highly value her collaborative philosophy at work. She also wants to get back into working for a high-growth company.
The action plan: Her coach shows her how to polish her resume, highlight emotional intelligence skills and research high-growth employers of interest. She learns to put into practice a technique her career coach teaches: how to engage the right person at the right time.
