PROFESSIONAL REHABILITATION >

Transferable skills analysis (TSA) and market study

An expertise at your service

The experts at Enjeux Carriere stand out for their deep understanding of interrelated chronic physical or mental health issues, and their consequences on employability. Dealing with complex long-term disability and critical illness client cases from across Canada, they provide expertise to many managers and analysts by helping them identify jobs that best suit their policyholders.

The experienced career counselors are skilled at creating assessments that provide a thorough and complete picture of the employability level of the policyholder. The Transferable Skills Assessment includes:

  • Complete analysis of medical records (attending physician, physiatrist, orthopedic surgeon, neurologist, psychiatrist, occupational therapist, physiotherapist, psychologist, etc.) that takes into account functional limitations and abilities related to the demands of the labor market
  • A complete evaluation of the insured's employability profile: • Personal and professional resources • Psychological functioning • Environmental conditions • Abilities, personality traits, fields of interest, job skills, etc.
  • The identification of suitable jobs respecting the protected salary (training, physical ability, job prospects in the region, etc.)
  • A market survey of local employers (if necessary), to illustrate the reality and requirements of the recommended jobs
  • The option of a developmental TSA (skills that the insured can acquire to increase his/her employability profile)
  • Personalized recommendations and an action plan to optimize the insured person's conditions as they return to the job market

JULIEN: BOUNCING BACK

A test case

The case: At 52, Julien is Director of operations for a large automobile dealership. Competition is fierce and his boss has been relentlessly breathing down his neck for years, demanding better results. Burned out, Julien gets a medical leave of absence. He's had enough of this dead-end job and his ungrateful boss. He'll start a new career somewhere else; but what and where?

The insight: After a few months rest, he decides to meet with a career counsellor to try and figure things out. With a bit of help, he learns to reclaim what he loves the most in his line of work: to serve and to help. Actually, it's not so much his job he wants to quit, but rather his unreasonable boss.

The decision: Not wanting to throw the baby out with the bath water, Julien decides to remain in the automobile sector, but to change paths and target customer service management jobs. He also becomes more selective in choosing his employer, to ensure his work will be noticed and appreciated.
